As the leaves change and autumn settles over Maryland, October brings an abundance of opportunities for veterans, their families, and supporters. Join the Veterans community this October to connect, network, and celebrate together. The Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce is excited to highlight these upcoming events that honor our veteran community while bringing people together throughout the state.


Veteran-Focused Networking and Wellness


Military Mixer - Thursday, October 9, 2025

Kick off the month by connecting with fellow veteran entrepreneurs and professionals at our Military Mixer in Clarksburg Premium Outlets in Clarksburg, MD. This networking event is designed to foster collaboration and build meaningful relationships within Maryland's veteran business community. All veteran entrepreneurs are welcome, does not matter if you are just contemplating the entrepreneurial life or looking to open a second location.  This mixer provides the perfect atmosphere to exchange ideas, share experiences, and create partnerships that can propel your professional goals forward.


Heroes on the Water Rocktober Event - Saturday, October 11, 2025

Experience the healing power of nature during this free kayak fishing event at Raccoon Point Beach & Park in Westover, MD. Open to veterans, first responders, and their families, Heroes on the Water creates a peaceful environment for relaxation and camaraderie. This event embodies the therapeutic benefits of outdoor activity and provides an opportunity to connect with others who understand the unique experiences of military service. No fishing experience is necessary—just bring yourself and an open mind.


Family-Friendly Fall Festivities


Halloween Party/Trunk or Treat/Spooky Woods - Saturday, October 18, 2025

The Smithsburg Community Activities Committee invites the public to Veterans Park in Smithsburg for an afternoon of Halloween fun. This event honors our veterans while creating a welcoming space for families throughout the community to celebrate the season together.


Baltimore Running Festival - Saturday, October 18, 2025

Lace up your running shoes for one of Maryland's premier athletic events. The Baltimore Running Festival features a marathon, half-marathon, and 5K through Charm City's historic streets. Many veterans and active-duty service members participate each year, making this a great opportunity to support the veteran community while promoting health and wellness.


Silver Spring Fall-O-Ween - Sunday, October 26, 2025

Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring transforms into a Halloween wonderland for this family-friendly festival. Bring the kids (and pets!) for a costume parade, craft and treats fair, and entertainment that celebrates the season. It's a wonderful way to enjoy autumn festivities while honoring the space dedicated to those who served.


Haunted History Halloween Night - Friday, October 31, 2025

Close out the month with an evening of historical exploration at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, MD. This unique Halloween experience combines history and holiday fun through guided tours that bring Maryland's Civil War medical history to life. It's an educational and entertaining way to honor our nation's military heritage while celebrating Halloween.


Building Community Through Connection

These October events reflect the diverse interests and needs of Maryland's veteran community, this month brings professional networking and outdoor wellness activities to family celebrations and historical education. The Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce encourages all veterans, their families, and supporters to participate in these events as we continue building a strong, connected community throughout our state.
