As spring approaches, the Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce is proud to highlight a month packed with meaningful events, career opportunities, and resources for our military veteran community. As a chamber of commerce dedicated to veterans supporting veterans, we believe that staying informed is the first step toward staying empowered. March carries special significance, it is Women's History Month, a time to honor the extraordinary women who have served and continue to serve in our nation's armed forces. It also brings us Vietnam Veterans Day on March 29, a national observance recognizing the courage and sacrifice of those who served during the Vietnam War. Whether you are a military veteran seeking career support, a veteran owned business looking to grow, or a community member eager to give back, March offers something for every veteran and every veteran family in Maryland.

Honoring Female Veterans During Women's History Month

March is Women's History Month, across Maryland and the greater Washington, D.C. region, organizations are shining a light on the service and contributions of women veterans. Women represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the veteran population. Their leadership, resilience, and dedication have shaped every branch of the military. The Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce is committed to ensuring that female veterans receive the recognition, resources, and supportive services their families have earned.

Women Veterans ROCK! Public Policy Day on Capitol Hill — March 19, 2026

One of the most anticipated events of the month takes place just down the road in Washington, D.C. Women Veterans ROCK! and The Women Veterans Public Policy Delegation will host their 2026 Women Veterans Public Policy Day on Capitol Hill. This year's theme is "Moving Forward Together." Delegates will have the opportunity to meet with Congressional members, Senate leaders, and Hill staffers to discuss the issues that matter most to female veterans and military families. This event is by invitation only and requires advance online registration. Learn more at Eventbrite.

Military Women's Memorial — "March With Me" Campaign

Throughout Women's History Month, the Military Women's Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery hosts its annual "March With Me" campaign. Events include documentary and film showings in the Vaught Center, the "Adopt a Woman Veteran" project, and opportunities to register the stories of local military women in the MWM Register. Maryland veterans and their families are encouraged to visit the Memorial, share their service stories on social media using the hashtag #MarchWithMWM, and help ensure the contributions of women who served are never forgotten. Visit womensmemorial.org for event schedules and details.

Veteran Affairs Resources for Female Veterans

The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, through the VA Maryland Health Care System, offers programs and services specifically designed for women veterans, including primary care, mental health support, maternity care, and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) counseling. These veteran affairs programs are part of the broader supportive services for veterans families that ensure every military veteran, regardless of gender, receives the care they have earned. If you or a woman veteran you know has not yet connected with the VA, March is an excellent time to reach out.

  • VA Call Center for Women Veterans: 855-VA-WOMEN (855-829-6636)

The Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce encourages our community to recognize and celebrate the female veterans among us. Not just during Women's History Month, but every day.

Vietnam Veterans Day — March 29, 2026

On March 29, our nation pauses to honor the men and women who served during the Vietnam War. Vietnam Veterans Day is a national observance established to ensure that the sacrifices of Vietnam-era veterans are recognized and remembered. Maryland is home to thousands of Vietnam veterans, and communities across the state will observe the day with ceremonies, wreath-layings, and moments of reflection. This is a day that embodies the spirit of veterans supporting veterans, honoring those who came before us while reminding every military veteran that their service matters.

The Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce encourages all Marylanders to take a moment on March 29 to thank a Vietnam veteran for their service. Whether through a community event, a personal conversation, or a simple gesture of gratitude, your acknowledgment means more than you may know. Local veteran affairs offices and veterans service organizations across Maryland may also host observances — check with your county's commission on veteran affairs for details.

Career and Employment Events for Veterans

March brings several career-focused opportunities for veterans and transitioning service members in and around Maryland. The leadership, discipline, and mission-driven mindset that military veterans bring to the civilian workforce make them highly sought-after candidates. These events are designed to connect veteran talent with employers who value it! The Maryland Veterans Chamber of Commerce believes that career success is one of the most powerful forms of veterans supporting veterans. When one military veteran thrives in the workforce, the entire veteran community benefits.

TalentAlly Cleared Career Fair — March 24, 2026 (Virtual)

For military veterans and veteran professionals with active security clearances, TalentAlly is hosting a virtual career fair on March 24. This event will help connect cleared professionals with defense contractors, intelligence agencies, and government organizations. Given Maryland's concentration of defense and intelligence employers, from Fort Meade and the National Security Agency to Aberdeen Proving Ground and numerous contractors throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor, this event is particularly relevant for veterans in our community. Registration is free for cleared candidates.

ClearanceJobs Virtual Career Fair — March 4, 2026 (Virtual)

Another opportunity for cleared professionals in the DC/MD/VA area, this virtual event connects candidates with employers in the defense, intelligence, government contracting, and cybersecurity sectors.
